If you do not file a timely answer to the foreclosure complaint, a Clerk's Default could be filed against you in as little as twenty (20) days. If you file a timely answer with defenses, a hearing date will be set for the judge to consider the merits of each party's case. Depending upon the availability of the court and the parties, it may take several weeks to a month to hold this hearing.
Afterwards, if the court finds merit in your defenses, another hearing may be set to hear additional evidence. If after the exchange of information, the court orders the property to be sold at auction, it will generally occur 30-45 days after the last hearing between the parties.
Technically, until the property is sold, there is still the chance of saving your property from a foreclosure action. I can help guide you through this often confusing process.
