About Our Jacksonville Bankruptcy Firm
When it comes to getting you out of debt, I will tell you ALL your options, so you can make the RIGHT choice! My law practice specializes in consumer bankruptcy and foreclosure defense. We always start by looking at the non-bankruptcy options, and sometimes that’s all you need. I never recommend bankruptcy if some other method of debt relief is better.
I find this work interesting and challenging because it requires knowledge and integration of several different areas of law, including creditor rights, bankruptcy law, tax law, estate planning, real estate and understanding of human nature. I feel a sense of accomplishment when I help my clients through a difficult financial period in their lives. I’m proud to be making a real difference!
What I Do
My name is Robert Peters, and I’m a Jacksonville bankruptcy attorney, a real estate attorney, a former Certified Public Accountant, and a credit counselor. I serve Jacksonville, Fernandina Beach/Amelia Island, Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach, and Mayport in our beautiful state of Florida.
I provide most legal services on a fixed-fee basis, so you’ll know your legal costs in advance. And you’ll find Personal Attention and Prompt Responsiveness are two of our office policies.
Attorney. CPA. Family Man.
I served our country in the United States Air Force and then attended Florida State University, where I majored in accounting and real estate. I earned my bachelor’s degree in 1987. I then worked for Price Waterhouse as a CPA until I entered law school in 1990. I graduated from Florida State University College of Law with high honors, and I’ve been practicing law since 1993.
I’m also a proud husband and father! My wife, Jody, and I have three awesome kids — Tori, Robert, and Caroline.
Michelle VanDeren has been in the legal industry since 1990, and she started working with me in 2002. She’s been a licensed title insurance agent since 2006 and a paralegal since 2007.
Michelle assists me in the areas of Bankruptcy, Tax Deed Quiet Title, Real Estate, Short Sale Negotiations and FDCPA violations. She also works on my Newsletter Staff and writes motivational articles which are featured in “Michelle’s Corner” of our printed newsletter.
Michelle is a life-long resident of Fernandina Beach with deep roots in the community (her grandfather Joseph Gianino arrived in 1906 from Augusta, Sicily, and her family was one of the original shrimping families in Fernandina). She’s been happily married to her husband Ken since 2000, and they have two grown sons — Corey and Caleb — and a granddaughter named Makaila.
Michelle is currently pursuing a degree in Business at FSCJ, and she anticipates transferring to the University of Florida Criminal Justice Law program by the end of 2015.
She says, “I am extremely passionate about my job. I really do love helping people get to a better place!”
